Safety tips
Never pay upfront
DirectOffice is a direct marketplace between sellers and buyers. These are the habits to adopt to avoid scams and identify trustworthy listings.
Never pay upfront
No deposit, no foreign wire transfer, no crowdfunding pot. Payment always happens after the physical visit and inspection of the asset.
Always visit before buying
For property or vehicles, insist on an in-person visit. For professional equipment, ask for a filmed demonstration or a hand delivery.
Verify the seller's identity
The “Verified email” badge only confirms that the account's email address has been validated — it is NOT an identity check. Stay cautious even with a “verified” seller: request ID or company registration depending on context, and be wary of accounts with no history.
Use traceable payment methods
Classic SEPA bank transfer to the named individual or company, certified cheque or notary payment. Reject crypto, cash mandates and prepaid cards.
Beware of fake cheques and overpayment scams
A buyer who “mistakenly” overpays and then asks you to refund the difference is a scammer: the original cheque or transfer is fake and is eventually reversed. Never cash an overpayment and never refund any difference.
Never use off-platform payment links
A fake payment link, QR code or email impersonating DirectOffice aims to steal your credentials or card details. Ignore links sent by message, never share your 3D Secure codes, and reach the site by typing the address yourself.
Vet the buyer too, not just the seller
Caution works both ways. When selling, be wary of a rushed buyer paying remotely without a visit, imposing a specific courier, or asking for your full bank details. Favour hand delivery whenever possible.
Watch out for red flags
Pushy sellers, prices that are way too low, communication only by SMS or WhatsApp, refusal to visit: these are classic fraud signals.
Report suspicious listings
Use the “Report this listing” button on the page to alert our team. These reports are essential to keep the platform healthy (DSA compliance).
The DirectOffice habit
If anything seems off, report the listing via the dedicated button on the page, or email us at contact@directoffice.fr.
We review every DSA report within 48 working hours and immediately block fraudulent listings.
